The sale of health accessories on Lazada increased by 66 times as Malaysians battling the haze epidemic.
Lazada said over 36,000 face masks were sold in less than 48 hours last Sunday and on Monday during Lazada’s Keep The Haze Away sale when the haze reached “Very Unhealthy” Air Pollutant Index (API) levels in over 230 in areas across the country.
During the sale, face masks were selling 18 times more compared to normal day sales and air purifier sales also went up by 10 times.
Air purifiers were also among the top three most searched for items under the Home Appliances category, with products of these types on the TechMall store on LazMall selling out within the first 20 hours of the sale.
The sale is an effort by Lazada to bring down prices of masks and other air-quality control products at a time where demand and prices are soaring.
“We worked with our supportive brands and sellers to prepare the best deals for our shoppers as safety should not be a commodity, and prices should not be hiked up just because demand is high,” Lazada Malaysia chief executive officer Leo Chow said in a statement today.
This is indicative of increasing consumer preference to look towards digital solutions for their lifestyle needs, supported by the convenience provided by e-commerce platforms such as Lazada, Chow said.
