PETALING JAYA, Oct 29 — Sunway has introduced the Sunway Smart Parking, billed as the first and largest unified license plate recognition with multiple-payment options involving 10,000 car park bays.
The cashless parking experience is part of Sunway’s digitalisation journey to enable hassle-free experiences for its shoppers and will be rolled out to the public in the first quarter of 2020.
“It’s the first smart parking system to embrace multiple e-wallet payment options to provide greater convenience for all drivers…currently the system is online for season parkers and will be available to the public next year,” Sunway Malls and Theme Parks chief executive officer HC Chan told a news conference here today.
He said Sunway sees cashless convenience ought not be restricted to retail payment alone but extended to peripheral services like the car park.
With Sunway Smart Parking, drivers need not to retrieve and pay using a parking ticket when they enter and exit but need to register their car plate number through the Sunway Parking portal and Sunway Pyramid apps via smart phone.
In terms of cashless payment options, a total of 12 partners are on board, namely GrabPay, Boost, WeChat Pay, Alipay, Touch N’ Go Digital, and Maybank QR alongside credit partners MasterCard, Visa, American Express, JCB, UnionPay, and MyDebit.
The system will be rolled out in six properties covering Sunway Pyramid mall, Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, Sunway Clio Hotel, Sunway Pyramid Hotel, Sunway Pinnacle office tower and Menara Sunway office tower.
