KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 8 — Some 500 manufacturers of China’s southern Guangdong Province made their debut in Malaysia at the Malaysia-China Trade Expo (MCTE 2019) on Thursday.
The expo under the theme “From Traditional to Intelligent” features a range of high-tech products in laser technology, smart home appliances and 5G services, the organizer said in a statement.
Malaysian Entrepreneur Development Minister Redzuan Md Yusof and Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Bai Tian joined Chinese and Malaysian officials for the opening ceremony, with Redzuan visiting several booths to see some products first hand.
Noting China’s large population and huge market, Redzuan said he hoped the expo could serve as a platform for companies from Malaysia and China to deepen mutual understanding for cooperation.
One of the key thrusts of the expo is showcasing smart living concepts and technology. Pioneers of smart life industry, Country Garden, a leading smart eco-city developer and Guangdong Canbo Electrical, a well-known smart home environmental appliance manufacturer, have drawn the attention of visitors.
“The Malaysia-China Smart Home and Building Materials Fair represents the flagship industries of Guangdong, including smart home appliances, environmentally-friendly building materials, new technologies, energy-saving LED lighting, hardware and machinery,” said the organizer.
The expo is divided into two themed sections namely the Guangdong Advanced Manufacture Pavilion and ASEAN Pavilion, with the latter featuring enterprises from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Also included are three special exhibitions: Malaysia-China Smart Home and Building Materials Fair, Malaysia-China Vogue Industry Fair, and Malaysia-China International Tea Culture and Gourmet Expo 2019.
The expo runs from Nov. 7-9. (Xinhua)
