KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 11– The Proton X70, the most popular premium C-segment sport utility vehicle (SUV) in Malaysia, has been selected as one of the official vehicles of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2020.
PROTON Holdings Bhd chief executive officer Dr Li Chunrong said the car would be used to support the year-long forum that promotes economic cooperation throughout the Asia-Pacific region. “PROTON is proud to support Malaysia in hosting the APEC 2020.
“With its intelligent features, comfortable ride, refined interior and five-star New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) safety rating, we believe the Proton X70 is perfect for showcasing how cooperation between nations via forums such as APEC can help uplift each other, and thus raise the capabilities of entire industries and supporting ecosystems,” he said in a statement.
Officials of 21 APEC economies will visit Malaysia throughout 2020 as Committees and Working Groups deliberate on various issues towards regional economic integration.
Discussion on liberalising trade and investment is enhanced by addressing issues on embracing digitalisation, increasing human resource development efforts, and strengthening women empowerment, among others.
