PUTRAJAYA June 24 : Recoveries continue to outpace new Covid-19 cases, with 45 patients discharged compared to six new cases recorded, the health ministry revealed this evening.

To date, a total of 8,231 patients have recovered.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said of the six new cases — which pushes the total to 8,596 — four were local transmissions involving Malaysians, namely three in Selangor and one in Sarawak.

The remaining two were imported cases, involving one foreigner.

There are 244 active cases now.

Noor Hisham also said two patients are being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU).

No new Covid-19-related deaths were reported, which sees the death toll remain at 121.
