MERSING, Oct 5  — Tour operators in COVID-19 red zone areas must remain resilient and prepare interesting packages to attract visitors as soon as their areas are free from the pandemic.

Tourism Malaysia Domestic and Events senior director Datuk Dr Ammar Abd Ghapar said this will help tour operators in keeping their business alive after the red zone improved into a green zone.

“Although in the red zones, they have to keep promoting and be creative. Not just sitting down. Be prepared with other things. Because when we talk about resilience, it is how you rebound from difficulties.

“So, as soon as the area turned into a green zone, the hotels should have been sanitised and the staff have been trained to uplift your services,” he told reporters after observing the standard operating procedures for the tourism industry at a resort here, Sunday.

He said this when was asked to comment on tour operators in COVID-19 red zones.

Also present were Tourism Malaysia Southern Region director Solehuddin Ahmad and Domestic and Events Division deputy director Abdul Rahim Harun.

Ammar said at the same time, Tourism Malaysian will guide and lead tour operators in ensuring they remain resilient during this trying time.

“We are also doing a lot of interpersonal communications with them so that they know that that the government is concerned and always ready to helping them,” he said.
