PETALING JAYA,Oct 13: PKR president Anwar Ibrahim is set to have an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, at 11am today, say sources in the know.

Previously, Anwar announced that he had the majority support of MPs to form a new government.

He said then that Sultan Abdullah had agreed to grant him an audience but this had to be postponed after the King was admitted to the National Heart Institute for medical treatment.

Last week, Anwar said he will present the King with evidence of the “strong and convincing” support he had from the MPs.

He also urged Malaysians to remain calm, take care of their health and comply with the ongoing recovery movement control order.

The opposition leader and Port Dickson MP has not revealed the number of MPs backing him, saying he would only do so after his audience with the King.

A number of parties within the government have denied that they are supporting Anwar although Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi admitted that many of the party’s MPs were backing him.
