PETALING JAYA, Oct 28: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, has again advised MPs to support the upcoming Budget 2021 in order to prioritise the welfare of the people.

In a statement, Comptroller of the Royal Household Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said the King stressed that the Budget will be crucial for the government and authorities to continue combating the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said the King reminded MPs that political disputes for personal interests will be detrimental to the nation, especially in view of the pandemic.

“Sultan Abdullah calls on MPs to respect his advice for them to immediately stop all political quarrels and to instead prioritise the welfare of the rakyat and well-being of the country so that the 2021 Budget can be passed without any disturbances,” he said.

The King made the decree after granting an audience to Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin for a pre-Cabinet meeting at Istana Negara this morning.

The palace said that during the one-hour meeting with Muhyiddin, the King was briefed on the Budget, which will be tabled in Parliament on Nov 6.

“Sultan Abdullah also expressed his full confidence in Muhyiddin’s ability to lead the country in this time when the country is being tested by various crises,” it said.
