Beijing,Dec 29–China’s national railway network is expected to meet the demands of 407 million passenger trips during the upcoming 40-day Spring Festival travel rush, the national railway operator said on Tuesday.

According to China Railway Corp, the national railway operator, railway authorities will conduct COVID-19 prevention measures and arrange the trips accordingly to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.

It will prevent overload and also reserve separate seats for passengers who feel sick onboard, the company said.

Passengers can buy tickets as early as 30 days before the planned trip.

The travel rush, starts on Jan 28 and ends on March 8, is known as the biggest annual human migration in the world and is always a test for the country’s transport system. China’s Spring Festival falls on Feb 12 next year.
