KUALA TERENGGANU,Jan 15: A former Lord President of the Federal Court, Mohamed Salleh Abas, and a Selangor senator are reported to have tested positive for Covid-19.

Salleh is in stable condition and is being treated at the intensive care unit of Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital here, the head of as-Salihin Trustee Berhad, Abdul Aziz Peru Mohamed, said yesterday, Bernama reported. Salleh is chairman of the company.

Aziz said the hospital is taking precautions due to Salleh’s age. He is 91.

Terengganu health director Dr Nor Azimi Yunus confirmed that Salleh is being treated at the hospital.

A senator from Selangor, Yaakob Sapari, is the latest politician to test positive for Covid-19.

He was reported to have tested positive today after taking a screening test a day before he was scheduled to deliver aid to flood victims in Kuantan. Malaysiakini reported that Yaakob was awaiting results of a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.

Home Minister Hamzah Zainudin, Economic Affairs Minister Mustapa Mohamed and veteran Umno leader Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah have all tested positive for Covid-19, with the latter admitted at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre in Petaling Jaya today.
