KANGAR, April 5 — Perlis is the third state in the country to implement the Malaysian Islamic Marriage Management System (SPPIM) introduced by the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) in 2012.
The Raja Muda of Perlis ,Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail said the Perlis State Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JAIPs) had succeeded in digitising the records of 55,264 couples in the state.
‘’The digitisation of data was seriously and intensively implemented by JAIPs at the end of 2016.
‘’It is able to speed up the process of obtaining copies of marriage, divorce and rujuk (reconciliation) certificates from 14 working days to less than one hour.”
He said this in his speech when launching the Perlis State Muslim Marriage Data Digitisation ceremony at Dewan Syed Sirajuddin JAIPs, here, today.
Also present at the ceremony were JAKIM director-general, Datuk Abdul Aziz Jusoh and Perlis Mufti, Datuk Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin.
The Perlis Raja Muda said to date, seven states had adopted the system.
He said this was in line with the Perlis Go Digital plan, seen as able to spur the state’s Muslim Digital Programme for the Digital Community Cluster, specifically through the strategy of full digitisation of the state’s Islamic administration and creating a digital Muslim lifestyle.
Meanwhile, Abdul Aziz said among the objectives of the data digitisation effort was to save the records which were previously manually written and to ease reference and data processing.
