SHAH ALAM, April 30 — Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on building a cashless community and helping youths to be more financial savvy by integrating Maybank e-payment solutions, products and services in the UiTM campus.

The MoU was signed by Industry, Community and Alumni Network deputy vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Rahmat Mohamad on behalf of UiTM while Community Financial Service Malaysia head Datuk Hamirullah Boorhan represented Maybank.

In a statement today, UiTM said future initiatives would include Maybank Day, a day dedicated to engaging students on financial literacy, career workshops and entrepreneurship engagements, including introducing a module on Digital Entrepreneur, to further instill the spirit of digital entrepreneurship among students.

The university said in addition, the Maybank Cashless Campus initiative would help UiTM ensure that the next generation would truly be a cashless generation.

“With Maybank@Campus, Maybank will set up a bank branch on the campus by 2022 to provide banking facilities and financial advisory services to the campus community,” the statement read.
