JOHOR BAHRU, May 5 — The Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar has requested all Muslims in the state to conduct special prayers or ‘solat hajat’ to seek divine protection and safety from the COVID-19 threat.

Johor Islamic Religious Department (JAINJ) director Datuk Md Rofiki A. Shamsudin said the Sultan had ordered for the prayers to be held at mosques, suraus, as well as at home.

“It (the prayers) can be held after maghrib prayer or any other appropriate time as well as during the Friday prayers,” read the statement posted on Sultan Ibrahim’s official Facebook page here today.

The Sultan also called on Muslims to continue adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOP) set by the government to break the COVID-19 chain of infection.
