KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 — Graphic designer Muhammad Syabil Mohd Ribuan from Kuala Lumpur has been unanimously chosen as the winner of a logo design contest organised by the Embassy of Poland in Malaysia to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Poland.

Muhammad Syabil’s creative and unique design, which portrayed the number 50 as a White Eagle and a Rhinoceros Hornbill as Poland and Malaysia’s national symbols respectively, won him EUR1,000.00 (RM4,815) in prize, the embassy said in a statement to Bernama, here, Tuesday.

“Syabil’s original logo design stole the judges’ hearts”, said Poland’s Ambassador to Malaysia Krzysztof Dębnicki.

“His unique take on the symbolism of both countries caught our attention. Our objective was to choose a logo that in a creative and ingenious way captures Malaysia and Poland’s essence of harmony by using the number 50.

“In our opinion, Mr. Muhammad Syabil seized that intent perfectly in his design. Congratulations!”, he added.

Earlier this year, the embassy had organised a logo contest to mark the momentous occasion. Malaysia and Poland will celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations on June 21.

The logo contest was open for participation to Malaysians and Poles.

It added that over 300 artworks have been submitted for the contest, with 274 logo designs qualifying.

The Embassy of Poland also plans to display the best 20 logo designs later this year.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Dębnicki emphasises that despite the current restrictions, the Embassy of Poland will continue to organise various online fun contests with attractive prizes to be won as well as promotional campaigns, with the goal of bringing Poland closer to Malaysians.

“We plan to organise Polish music concerts, support pro-ecological activities by planting trees in various locations in Malaysia, (and) we plan to illuminate iconic buildings in Malaysia,” he said.

He said the embassy also intended to donate symbolic 50 football balls to local schools and special needs institutions that it is supporting.

“We cordially invite everyone to participate in those specially curated events to mark the 50 years of togetherness.”
