KUALA LUMPUR, June 10 — Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) is collaborating with e-commerce giant Amazon Global Selling to jointly promote Malaysian-made products to a global audience.

In a statement today, MATRADE chief executive officer Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz said an area of focus is the joint promotion of MATRADE’s eTrade 2.0 Programme, aimed to assist new companies in embarking on cross-border e-commerce and educate small and medium enterprises (SMEs) on how they can use the tools and resources offered through the initiative to begin their journey selling globally through Amazon.

“The government, through the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) and its agency, MATRADE, is supporting these efforts through the eTrade2.0 Programme, which commenced in March this year, with the objective of enhancing exports by SMEs through e-commerce websites.

“This programme also ensures that SMEs remain resilient during these challenging times, as the export revenue generated will benefit the beneficiaries across the export supply chain,” he said.

Meanwhile, Amazon Global Selling Southeast Asia head Bernard Tay said Amazon hopes to support Malaysian sellers to start exporting or increasing their current export business and assist them in growing their presence in cross-border e-commerce.

He said the company is committed to making exports and cross-border e-commerce easier for Malaysian businesses and empower them to tap into their full potential.
