KUALA LUMPUR, June 14  — WCT Holdings Bhd and its associates have vaccinated 2,400 staff via the Mobile Vaccination MYMedic@Wilayah Pilot Programme administered under the Federal Territories Ministry with the first dose of the Sinovac vaccine.

In a statement today, WCT said the vaccination programme took place at Pavilion Bukit Jalil Mall on June 12 and 13, starting with its engineering and construction division project site staff.

Group managing director Datuk Lee Tuck Fook said the company started with the workforce from construction projects in Kuala Lumpur to ensure continuity of the projects in a safer working environment and to enable the staff to work with ease and peace of mind knowing they had been vaccinated.

“We have plans to intensify and extend the vaccination programme to as much of our workforce as possible and will continue to work closely with the ministry to achieve the set goal,” he said.

The Federal Territories Ministry has set a target of achieving herd immunity by vaccinating more than 80 per cent of the population in Kuala Lumpur by October 2021, especially in high population density areas and construction sites.

WCT is primarily involved in engineering and construction, property development, and property investment and management activity.

At 11.50am, WCT shares rose half-a-sen to 55 sen with 4.05 million units transacted.
