KUALA LUMPUR, July 5  — A total of 300 frontliners at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) received assistance in the form of agricultural produce from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries (MAFI) under its MAFI Prihatin programme today.

Its Deputy Minister I Datuk Seri Ahmad Hamzah said 19,572 people had benefitted from the MAFI Prihatin programme as of July 3 since it was implemented on May 27.

“They (recipients) comprise frontliners, welfare bodies and non-government organisations (NGO) in 78 locations nationwide with a total of 37 metric tonnes of food channeled,” said Ahmad in a statement today.

He said MAFI through the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) also created 45 Controlled Fresh Markets (PST) to ensure smooth and continuous produce flow during the Movement Control Order.

He said 2,154 agricultural entrepreneurs nationwide were involved and PST succeeded in recording a sale of RM42.25 million from June 1 to July 3.

Farmers who are facing difficulties to market their agriculture produce can surf the FAMA portal Feedback System (http://ffs.fama.gov.my/aduan/index.php) or contact FAMA hotline at 019-7476754/013-3777100/010-7632684.
