KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 — A total of 1,300 employees are among the first batch of Trans Resources Corporation Sdn Bhd (TRC) staff received their first COVID-19 vaccine dose, here today. 

According to TRC statement,  The vaccination was under the Construction Industry Vaccination Program (CIVac) an initiative by CIDB Holdings Sdn Bhd (a wholly own subsidiary of CIDB Malaysia). 

The statement said the effort was done by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia led by the Ministry of Works, to accelerate the vaccination uptake among the construction workforce to achieve herd immunity and reduce the number of COVID -19 workplace clusters. 

“This will protect the well-being of employees and consequently help to expedite Malaysia’s economic recovery.

“A total of 1578 comprises of employees and workers from Head Quarters and all project sites of TRC have been registered under this program which has been scheduled to take place over 3 days to finish subject to approval by MySejahtera portal,” said TRC.

The CIVac initiative program is held at the CIDB Convention Centre and the first phase of CIVac registration is open to first 40,000 pax for Kuala Lumpur and Selangor and it is based on first come first served basis. 

CIVac is to complement National COVID-19 Immunization Program (PICK) to accelerate immunization of the Rakyat by The Special Committee on COVID-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee (JKJAV) co-chaired by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and Ministry of Health (MOH).

According to the statement, The Group Managing Director, Tan Sri Sufri Mhd Zin said the company was thankful and blessed to be part of the program and stressed that the initiative, along with other COVID-19 preventive measures that the company had implemented, demonstrated the company commitment to workers’ welfare while staying on target.

“This vaccination drive will further ensure the safety of our workers, as we race to continue our existing project. 

“We hope that with this program, the construction industry will resume their operations as soon as possible when their workforce has been vaccinated without compromising the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)s and the guidelines given by CIDB as well as Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342),” he said in the statement.
