NEW DELHI, July 23  — Twenty-one Indian nationals died of COVID-19 in Malaysia while more than 3,200 succumbed to the viral infection in the Gulf Arab region, according to India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

The total number of Indians dying abroad due to COVID-19 was 3,570, with Saudi Arabia recording 1,154 deaths, followed by 894 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), 546 in Kuwait and 384 in Oman.

The wealthy Gulf Arab states host millions of Indian economic migrants and their families.
