IPOH, July 28 — The Perak government will provide more than 20 studios at District Education Offices (PPD) throughout the state for teachers to prepare their home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) materials.

Menteri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad said an allocation of RM125,000 had been handed over to the Perak State Education Department (JPN) for the purpose of preparing two PdPR studios in each of the 11 PPDs.

“The initiative under the Cikgu Saarani Tuition Programme aims at helping educators provide materials for PdPR which is now the new norm following the COVID-19 pandemic. The studios can also be used for briefing sessions and online sports or esports activities,” he told a virtual press conference today.

Apart from that, Saarani said the state JPN also received a cheque worth RM15,000 for the implementation of the Perak School Sports Council eChallenge 2021, a competition involving 24 types of esports.

Meanwhile, the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) in collaboration with the state government will implement the Kasih Ibu Darul Ridzuan (KIDR) Programme to help the vulnerable affected by the COVID-19 starting Aug 1 involving 5,097 female recipients including 1,104 Orang Asli as well as 20,000 dependents among the poor and the hardcore poor.

NCIA chief executive Datuk Seri Jebasingam Issace John, who also participated in the press conference, said the KIDR Programme recipients will receive aid through a cashless card system to purchase essential items and get healthcare treatment at private clinics.

“Recipients will each receive a cashless card worth RM250 a month to purchase essential items from grocery stores near their homes,” he said, adding that for healthcare treatment, the recipients will receive assistance worth RM250 for the use of the whole family this year.
