KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 20 — Home improvement retailer MR DIY Group (M) Berhad (MR DIY) is channelling essential personal protective equipment (PPE) worth more than RM432,000 to 136 healthcare and emergency services centres across the country.

Group chief executive officer Adrian Ong in a statement today said the initiative was made possible by the collaboration between the Malaysia Relief Agency (MRA) and the group’s logistics and operation teams.

“The pandemic has been a very challenging time for our healthcare professionals and has stretched our healthcare services to the absolute limit.

“As a socially responsible corporate citizen, we want to support the rakyat and the country in meaningful ways, and one of the ways we can do this effectively is to use our business relationships with global manufacturers and our logistics systems to ensure necessary supplies reach those who need them the most,” it said.

According to the statement, the PPE were being channelled by MR DIY’s own logistics network to district police headquarters (IPD), health clinics, hospitals, and quarantine centres across Peninsular Malaysia, while MRA assisted in identifying the list of beneficiaries and facilitated the distribution of these supplies in Sabah and Sarawak.

Over the course of one and a half years, MR DIY has leveraged its direct relationships with local and global manufacturers, international logistics partners, and its in-house nationwide delivery network to ensure that essential supplies such as PPE, face masks and face shields accessible to healthcare frontliners, government bodies, non-governmental organisations and affected communities across the country.

MR DIY previously launched its ‘Stay Safe, Malaysia’ initiative as the country went into lockdown in March last year, aimed to help Malaysians in meaningful ways through the pandemic.

The group has also ensured its retail operations adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) by the government and that the majority of its workforce is vaccinated.
