KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 21 — A total of 200 individuals have successfully participated in the Pemulih SiberKASA: Cybersecurity Upskilling Training Programme since the application was opened last July.

CyberSecurity Malaysia chief executive officer Datuk Dr Amirudin Abdul Wahab said participants who have completed the training programme would receive a certificate that is recognised in various sectors.

In a statement today, he said CyberSecurity Malaysia is implementing the Pemulih SiberKASA initiative in a bid to revive and strengthen the country’s economy which was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Besides that, he said the training programme supported the effort to sustain and strengthen the country’s cyber security field, thus becoming the catalyst for economic development.

“Pemulih SiberKASA is expected to provide new employment opportunities to IT (information technology) workers and in turn produce a more competent cyber security workforce to meet the needs of various industries in Malaysia.

“By having the competencies, knowledge and technical skills on relevant cyber security domains, participants will be able to increase the effectiveness of cyber security initiatives in their workplaces,” he said.

The target groups for Pemulih SiberKASA Programme are Malaysians with IT backgrounds who were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic or have lost their jobs or source of income, as well as unemployed graduates.

Amirudin said the programme comprised capacity building and on-the-job training for three months, followed by placement in the industry for six to 12 months.

He added that the programme would be implemented in three phases involving various training domains such as Cyber Security Essential, Certified Information Security Awareness Manager, Certified Penetration Tester, Certified Data Security Professional, Professional Business Continuity Implementer, Security Analyst and SecureMI Certified Administrator.
