SEREMBAN, Sept 23  — The fisherman who went missing while fishing about a nautical mile from Kuala Lukut Jetty in Port Dickson near here yesterday was found drowned this morning.

The officer-in-charge of Port Dickson Fire and Rescue Station Mohd Hairul Izam Mazelan said the body of Yap Fok Swe, 64, was at 7.50 am by the rescue team near Bagan Kurnia beach, about 2.5km from the jetty.

“The team had resumed their search and rescue operation at 6.30 am and found the body floating near the area after being alerted by a member of the public.

“The body was taken to Port Dickson Hospital for post mortem,” he told Bernama here.

The man was reported missing, believed to have fallen into the sea, after his boat was found abandoned by another fisherman at 10.30 am yesterday.

The search and rescue operation was launched at 4.30 pm involving various agencies, including the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, Civil Defence Force and the local fishermen community.
