KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 31 — The Seasonal Celebration for Enduring Bonds: 2022 Spring Festival Cultural Events and International Spring Festival Gala officially kicked off simultaneously in Kunming, China; Colombo of Sri Lanka; and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on the eve of the Lunar New Year, today.

In a statement, Head of Yunnan Publicity Department Zeng Yan said the Spring Festival is China’s grandest traditional festival and embodies the essence of peace and cooperation, innovation, progress, openness and inclusiveness in the 5,000 years of Chinese civilisation.

Guided by the State Council Information Office of China, the event hosted by Yunnan was jointly sponsored by the Information Office and the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Yunnan Province.

At the event, artists of all ethnic groups in Yunnan put on traditional shows such as Phoenix Flying Into The Sky adapted from the Dai (ethnic) intangible cultural heritage dance, Jinnaluo, as well as innovative works such as Impressive Sound, which showcases the life of all ethnic groups in Yunnan.

Malaysian dance, “The Pulse of Rain Forest”, as well as Sri Lanka’s “The Glory of Luck” were also performed at the event. 
Undertaken by the Yunnan branch of the China News Service, the event was co-organised by the Information Offices of the People’s Governments of 16 prefectures and cities in Yunnan.

Present were Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia, Ouyang Yujing; Malaysian Prime Ministers’ Special Envoy to China, Tiong King Sing; Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Qi Zhenhong; and Sri Lanka State Minister of National Heritage, Performing Arts and Rural Arts Promotion, Vidura Wickramanayaka.

In his address, Ouyang said that China and Malaysia are neighbours across the sea and have a long traditional friendship. 
“In recent years, with the joint efforts of both sides, China-Malaysia relations have been developed continuously, and bilateral cooperation has great prospects in the future.

“The two sides will further reinforce alignment of development strategies, have quality cooperation in building the “Belt and Road”, plan and carry out exchanges and cooperation in the post-pandemic era,” he said.
