IPOH, Feb 8 — Several districts in Perak like Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama are among the areas recording a low number of booster dose takers, said state Health, Science, Environment and Green Technology Committee chairman Mohd Akmal Kamarudin.

Until to date, he said only about 42.9 per cent of the 1.8 million people with complete vaccinations had taken the booster shot and the state government expected that it would touch 50 per cent before Aidilfitri.

“The low percentage in the taking of the booster dose occurs nationwide and not only in Perak. It is not  a problem of supply but numerous factors including the social media influence and inaccurate information sharing.

“In the past, some parties were angry when the vaccine supply was late. Currently, we have ample supply of booster doses and rightly those yet to take the dose can just walk in at any government or private clinic following their respective District Health Office (PKD),” he said.

He said this to Bernama when attending the Meet The Client Day programme here today which was also attended by Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.
