KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 — The establishment of the Felda Youth Entrepreneurs Fund with the initial capital of RM10 million would pave the way for more economic activities apart from providing employment opportunities in Felda settlements.

Mahmud Faizul Mohd Isro, a youth from Felda Sungai Tengi, Selangor said the fund and allocation showed the care of the government and the new generation of Felda appreciates the effort to encourage business activities in Felda land schemes.

“I myself in food business really appreciate it if I could obtain more fund to help me expand my business with more equipment or creating more automation in the processing of food in my workshop,” he said in a statement today.

On Wednesday (March 9), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the government would be setting up a fund with the starting capital of RM10 million from Felda.

The fund would help to boost the socio-economic standard of Felda new generation apart from functioning as a catalyst in Felda areas including empowering the digital economy.

Meanwhile, Mazuan Zainal Abidin who is from Felda Raja Alias 4, Negeri Sembilan, is also among the youth entrepreneurs from all over the country who welcomed the initiative which indirectly assists in empowering entrepreneurial activities among youths.

“I am very happy with the announcement by the Prime Minister. Even though it is still new, and in its early stage before implementation, I am happy with the potential opportunities,” he said.

Mazuan who is currently carrying out an online business said there is a potential of the fund to help me expand my business.

“It may also assist in terms of marketing as the digital business is very dependent on marketing,” he said and added that he hoped to open up a physical shop if he gets aid from the Felda Youth Entrepreneurs Fund.
