BANDAR TENGGARA, April 16 — The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) will develop a research raw data sharing platform to facilitate researchers in their duties and save research costs.

Its minister, Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba said the raw data for the platform, which was expected to be launched at the end of this year, would be gathered by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) through the Malaysian Open Science Platform (MOSP).

“Researchers can conduct their research works in an inclusive manner through this initiative and it is estimated that the government can save at least RM500 million on research work costs a year.

“The new platform will connect five national research universities under the pioneer project MOSP which will be the gateway to research raw data, a valuable national asset,” he said.

He said this in his speech at the Malaysian Family National Science Week and ‘Ihya Ramadan Tenggara’ today.

Meanwhile, Dr Adham told a media conference that MOSTI through ASM would launch the Science Communication Module Book on April 26.

He said the book would give guidance to researchers including scientists, academicians, teachers and media practitioners to impart scientific knowledge via an approach and method which were more easily understood.

“This is in line with the theme propagated by MOSTI, namely, to Popularise Science and Humanise Technology so that science and technology are closer to the hearts of the Malaysian Family.

“On the date of the launching of the book too, an engagement session would be held together with young scientists from the Young Scientist Network (YSN),” he said.
