JAKARTA, June 15 — Indonesian President Joko Widodo announced a minor cabinet reshuffle on Wednesday, including appointing a new trade minister.

He appointed Zulkifli Hasan as the new trade minister, following public criticism that Muhammad Lutfi had not done enough in managing domestic cooking oil supplies recently.

Joko Widodo, popularly known as Jokowi, has also appointed former military chief Hadi Tjahjanto as the new agrarian affairs and spatial planning minister, replacing Sofyan Djalil.

In a live broadcast, Jokowi hoped Zulkifli will ensure the country has enough capacity to meet domestic staple food needs, while Hadi could speed up the people’s land ownership certificate process.

The reshuffle included the appointment of Raja Juli Antoni as Hadi’s deputy, John Wempi Watipo as home affairs deputy minister, and Afriansyah Noor as manpower deputy minister.

Earlier, all new ministers and deputy ministers took their oath of office in front of Jokowi at the Istana Merdeka, here.
