NEW DELHI, June 18 — Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah interacted with Malaysian diplomats and other community members in New Delhi.

Malaysia’s High Commissioner to India Datuk Hidayat Abdul Hamid briefed the minister about the diplomatic mission’s building, completed in 2015 and formally inaugurated in 2017.

Saifuddin toured the High Commission complex located in the Indian capital’s Chanakyapuri diplomatic enclave and learned about its various facilities on Friday.

He played basketball with children at the High Commission and held a coaching session for them.

The 61-year-old minister has been passionate about basketball since his school days and is a strong advocate of promoting the sport in Malaysia.

Addressing the High Commission staff, representatives of Malaysian companies and other community members in the evening, the minister praised their contributions in developing a close relationship with India.

He said Malaysia-India relations are rooted in history and the Malaysian businesses and expatriates in India have an important role to play in enhancing them further.

Saifuddin was in India from June 15 to 17 on a working visit to participate in the two-day Special ASEAN-India Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
