KUALA LUMPUR, July 14 — Residents in coastal areas nationwide are advised to be vigilant of the high tide phenomenon (extra high tides) which is expected to occur from today to Sunday.

In a Twitter post, the National Hydrographic Centre (PHN) stated that the phenomenon occurs due to the influence of the gravitational pull of the moon and sun.

Meanwhile, PHN on its Facebook page advised the public to always monitor the current weather conditions and refer to the relevant agencies for coastal safety information.

“Residents near the coast are advised to be on the alert in the face of this phenomenon. Please monitor the current weather conditions and consult the relevant agencies for information on the safety of coastal areas, ” said PHN.
