KUALA LUMPUR, July 20 —  A moderate earthquake, measuring 5.7 on the Richter Scale, struck southern Sumatera in Indonesia at 7.46 am today, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department.

It occurred 62 km south of Bengkulu at a depth of 63 km, the department said in a statement.

The quake did not pose any tsunami threat to Malaysia, it said.
