KUALA LUMPUR, July 29 — The recitation of prayers marks the start of the Islamic new year 1444 Hijrah, as a sign of gratitude and to appreciate the event of Prophet Muhammad SAW’s migration to Madinah from Makkah, which became an important historical point of Islamic civilisation.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah graced the national Ma’al Hijrah 1444H celebration and the recitation of Yassin, in conjunction with Warriors’ Day, at the Federal Territory Mosque here, which was also attended by Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Yassin, and was followed by prayers led by the grand Imam of the National Mosque, Ehsan Mohd Hosni.

The congregation then performed the Maghrib and Hajat prayers.

In KELANTAN, Tengku Mahkota of Kelantan Tengku Dr Muhammad Faiz Petra attended the state-level Hijratul Rasul celebration ceremony at Al-Sultan Ismail Petra Mosque near Kubang Kerian.

At the event, Tengku Dr Muhammad Faiz Petra presented the Tokoh Hijratul Rasul award to the former lecturer of Sultan Ismail Petra International Islamic College (KIAS) Kelantan, Dr Mohd Zain Mahmood.

In NEGERI SEMBILAN, the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir, officiated the state-level Ma’al Hijrah celebration at the State Mosque, which was also attended by Minister Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

In SELANGOR, the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, through the Selangor Royal Office Facebook page, called on Muslims to renew their resolve to be more creative and innovative in facing an increasingly challenging world.

“Taking inspiration from this new year is the best opportunity to instil the spirit to make changes and improve ourselves or our situation for the better, whether as an individual, family, department, community or country,” he said.

In JOHOR, the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, through a post on his official Facebook page, called on Muslims to welcome the new Hijrah year with full faith and piety.

“Let us welcome this new year with full faith and piety so that the entire Muslim community in the state of Johor continues to be blessed by Allah SWT and live in a state of harmony and health,” he said.
