KUCHING, July 31 – Senior Works Minister, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof wants the people to together appreciate and internalise the meaning of Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family) in conjunction with the National Month celebration and Fly the Gemilang 2022 campaign.

He said the context of Keluarga Malaysia should be seen as a hijrah (journey or epoch), meaning, a sacrifice or struggle for togetherness.

“Only with unity and togetherness, we can achieve prosperity and this is a struggle for all, our commitment in conjunction with Maal Hijrah this year, to sow the seeds of unity and foster it,” he said at the closing of the Maal Hijrah Festival at the Sarawak State Mosque, here, today.

“The mosque is also an institution that plays a role in not only uniting the ummah (Muslim community) but also viewed as a place to gain knowledge.

“Not just worldly knowledge as religion plays an important role in disseminating knowledge on living skills for a needed balance,” added Fadillah, who is also the Member of Parliament for Petra Jaya.

“Find motivational experts who can share their knowledge for you to become excellent parents in moulding your children and to hold guidance and tuition classes.

“Besides that, do not limit the participation to Muslims only but to open up the opportunity to non-Muslims as well,” he added.

Fadillah said involving the non-Muslims would give them the opportunity to understand the Islamic religion and culture so that there would be mutual respect in the context of a prosperous population.

“At the same time, we will be able to understand the customs, religion and culture of others, so perhaps we need informative programmes for sharing of knowledge by inviting the non-Muslims too,” he said.
