ISTANBUL, Sept 5 — A powerful earthquake jolted southwest China on Monday afternoon.

According to China Earthquake Networks Centre, the 6.8 magnitude earthquake hit near Luding county in the Ganzi Tibetan autonomous province at a depth of 16 kilometres (10 miles).

The centre reported the earthquake at around 12.52 pm local time (12.52 pm Malaysia time), according to Anadolu Agency.
