KUALA KUBU BHARU, Sept 9 — The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah today launched a book “Tafsir Pimpinan Ar-Rahman Edisi Rumi Baharu”, the official Malay translation of the Quran.

The ceremony was held during a working visit by His Majesty and the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah to the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia’s  (Jakim) Darul Quran Complex here.

Jakim and Rimbunan Islamic Media Sdn Bhd, in a joint statement, said that the latest edition of the book, which is more reader-friendly than the original version,  is the only comprehensive translation and interpretation of the Quran published by Jakim.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Idris Ahmad, in his speech at the event, said the book was published for use as a reference for the Muslim community in the country.

“Hopefully Muslims in the country will continue to read and understand the (meaning and interpretation) of the verses of the Qur’an through the publication of this book,” he said.

Meanwhile,  Al-Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Hajah Azizah arrived the Darul Quran Complex at 9 am and were greeted on arrival by Idris and Jakim director-general Datuk Hakimah Mohd Yusoff.

During the visit, Their Majesties were briefed on the activities at Darul Quran by its director, Mohamad Kori Jusoh, and then visited the classrooms, as well as met the staff and students there.
