PUTRAJAYA, Sept 20 — The skills and expertise gained while serving in public service should be used by the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (K-KOMM) retirees to remain active and continue to contribute their ideas after retirement.

Deputy Minister Datuk Zahidi Zainal Abidin said retirement is a stepping stone for retirees to venture into the world outside the public service, either at a personal, family or community level.

“Retirement doesn’t mean retiring completely…they can continue participating in activities and contributing their ideas as it could also help in balancing and stabilising their physical and psychological health in the transition to retirement phase,” he said at the K-KOMM’s  “Jasamu Dikenang 2022” programme here today.

At the same time, Zahidi also expressed hope that those who are still in service will continue to serve with full dedication and integrity in helping K-KOMM to implement its agenda and programmes.

“The continuity is vital to be a catalyst for the development of the country’s communication and multimedia sector,” he said.

A total of 178 retirees from various agencies under the K-KOMM nationwide, including former editor-in-chief of the Malaysian National News Agency Khairdzir Md Yunus, were honoured at the event.
