SHAH ALAM, Sept 26 — Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah today handed over appointment letters for 19 posts in state Islamic religious bodies in a ceremony at Istana Bukit Kayangan.
The Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS), in a statement, said the Sultan handed over the appointment letter to Dr Ahmad Shahrir Makhtar as MAIS secretary for 2022-2025.
“His Highness also handed over the appointment letter to Datuk Mohd Radzi Abd Latif as a Member of the Syariah Appeal Court Permanent Panel of Judges; Dr Zainal Abidin Kusmin as Syariah High Court Judge and Mohd Shahidan Abdul Ghapar and Ahmad Husaini Othman as Syariah Lower Court judges,” the statement said.
At the ceremony, 14 members of the Selangor Fatwa Committee also received their appointment letters. They include Selangor mufti Datuk Dr Anhar Opir; Selangor deputy mufti Associate Prof Dr Miszairi Sitiris; state legal adviser Datuk Salim Soib @ Hamid and Selangor Islamic Religious Department director Datuk Shahzihan Ahmad.
All the appointments were made in accordance with the Islamic Religious Administration Enactment (State of Selangor) 2003 (EPAINS 2003), it said.
