TAIPEI, Nov 13 — Malaysian low cost carrier AirAsia said Sunday it would resume services from Taipei to Kuala Lumpur from Dec 1, Taipei to Sabah from Dec 10, and Taipei to Chiang Mai from Dec 15.

The announcement comes following the resumption of the airline’s Kaohsiung to Kuala Lumpur service Saturday, according to Central News Agency (CNA).

AirAsia brought the route’s two-year hiatus to an end after Taiwan relaxed border restrictions last month that had been in place since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The first post-pandemic AirAsia service to Taiwan took off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 at 5.25 pm. Saturday, and landed at Kaohsiung International Airport at 9.55 pm., according to the airline.

AirAsia began flying from Taiwan in 2004, and the carrier’s Kuala Lumpur-Kaohsiung and Kuala Lumpur- Taipei routes have been consistently popular, according to the airline.
