KUCHING, Nov 24 — The Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) was not informed about Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah yesterday, said its president Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.
Tiong said that as the audience was last minute, he and PDP’s Member of Parliament (MP) for Baram Datuk Anyi Ngau could not make it.
“Anyi’s constituency (Baram) got flooded and (the 15th General Election) result (for the seat was also delayed) and he missed out on messages in his phone.
“I was not informed to go to the palace (as well), maybe they (GPS) could not reach me because (it was at the) last minute, we will abide by the Agong’s decision and see how it goes,” he told reporters when met at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly building here, today.
Tiong, who is also Bintulu MP, said PDP also hoped that the federal government that is going to be formed should be a people-oriented government.
Yesterday, GPS representatives consisting of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Senior vice-president Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, GPS secretary-general Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) deputy president Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem and Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) vice-president Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang had an audience with Al-Sultan Abdullah at Istana Negara.
According to Fadillah, GPS has been advised by Al-Sultan Abdullah to consider formation of a unity government to end the current political crisis in the country in the aftermath of GE15 on Saturday (Nov 19).
GPS, which is a coalition of four Sarawak parties comprising PBB, SUPP, PRS and PDP, won 23 of the 31 parliamentary seats in the state in GE15.
