SUNGAI PETANI, Feb 25 – Three committees under the Unity Government of Malaysia Secretariat will present their reports on March 19 on the first stage of negotiations among all political parties in the government to face six state elections, said Pakatan Harapan (PH) secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

He said the three committees – on Strategy; Elections; and Monitoring of Government Agenda and Politics – should get their reports ready before that date.

“I have been informed by Secretariat chief Datuk Dr Asyraf (Wajdi Dusuki) that the top leadership of the Unity Government is scheduled to meet on March 19.

“We at the committee level need to complete our reports before then. So, matters related to seat negotiations at the PH level are ongoing involving these six states,” he told reporters after attending the Kedah PH convention here today.

He said the outcome of seat negotiations among parties in PH would be brought to the Unity Government Secretariat for discussion with Barisan Nasional (BN) to determine seat distribution between the two coalitions.

“When we sit down with BN then only will we review the matter but the important thing is the willingness of these two coalitions to come together for talks,” he said.

He said in the case of Kedah it was particularly important for PH and BN to avoid getting involved in three-cornered fights.

On Feb 7, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, after the inaugural meeting of the Unity Government Secretariat, announced the setting up of the three committees to draw up strategies for facing state elections in Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Selangor, Terengganu, Kelantan and Kedah.
