JAKARTA, July 9 – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is waiting for the completion of supporting infrastructure before moving to his office in Nusantara Capital City (IKN) in East Kalimantan.

The office was initially estimated to be ready by July 2024.

“The relocation depends on the availability of electricity, water, and office readiness,” Jokowi said on Monday.

Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono previously reported to Jokowi about the readiness of infrastructure in IKN, such as water, electricity, and the President’s office.

Based on the report, Jokowi concluded that the infrastructure is not yet ready for use.

On a previous occasion, he said he was optimistic about starting work in IKN in July, once the raw water supply was made available.
