India imports half a million tonnes of palm oil from Malaysia in October

NEW DELHI, Nov 13 — India imported 518,370 tonnes of palm oil from Malaysia in October, almost 32 per cent more than the previous month’s volume.

The Indian imports from Malaysia comprised 511,672 tonnes of crude palm oil (CPO) and 6,698 tonnes of crude palm kernel oil (CPKO).

The country’s edible oil imports last month totalled more than 1.22 million tonnes, representing an increase of 17.3 per cent on September’s volume, data released today by the trade group Solvent Extractors’ Association showed.

For the 12-month period starting November 2019, India imported 13.17 million tonnes of edible oil, including about 6.6 million tonnes of CPO, 421,000 tonnes of refined palm oil and 130,000 tonnes of CPKO.

Other top edible oils imported by India were soybean and sunflower oils.
