Sarawak private healthcare facilities ready to help in vaccination programme

KUCHING, March 6 — Private healthcare facilities in Sarawak are ready to help the state government with its COVID-19 vaccination programme, according to the Society of Private Medical Practitioners Sarawak (SPMPS).

“Sarawak aims to complete vaccination by August 2021, six months ahead of the nation’s target of February 2022. We need to involve everyone in the state to achieve this ambitious target.

“Private hospitals and general practitioner clinics are ready to be included as vaccination centres in Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the vaccination programme,” SPMPS president Dr Liew Shan Fap said in a statement today.

Dr Liew said the rollout of the COVID-19 immunisation in Sarawak has been smooth and the state is leading in the number of frontliners vaccinated in the country.

He said the state government especially the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee has done a good job in achieving this.

“On behalf of SPMPS, I would like to record our thanks to the state government for their effort to include private doctors in the early phase of the vaccination programme,” he said.
