COVID: Johor MPs, state reps to discuss pandemic issues – MB

JOHOR BAHRU, May 20 — All Johor members of parliament (MPs) and state assemblymen will meet next week to discuss issues concerning the people’s welfare following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Menteri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad said it was to discuss, among others, efforts to strengthen and improve all measures that have been and will be taken by the state and federal governments to curb the pandemic, in line with the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s order.

“This (discussion) includes increasing the capacity of the existing COVID-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) and the vaccination centre (PPV) in Johor.

“Even though the Emergency Ordinance is in force, the state government will ensure that the Johor State Secretary and Legal Adviser will oversee the smooth running of the discussions,” he said in a statement, here, today.

He said the state government also gave an assurance that matters decided in the meeting would be brought to the National Security Council (MKN).

Earlier, Sultan Ibrahim ordered all MPs and assemblymen in Johor to hold a special discussion on COVID-19 by giving their thoughts and views in curbing the spread and solving the problems faced by the people of Johor.
