Four foreigners missing while diving in Mersing waters

JOHOR BAHRU, April 6 — Four foreign nationals went missing while diving off Pulau Tokong Sanggol, Mersing this afternoon. 

Johor State Maritime Director, First Maritime Admiral Nurul Hizam Zakaria said information was received via the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Putrajaya at about 2.35 pm on an incident in which four foreign nationals failed to resurface while diving around noon. 

He said the victims were a British boy, aged 14, a 46-year-old British man, an 18-year-old French woman and a 35-year-old Norwegian woman.

“Up to 4 pm, the missing victims have not been found,” he said in a statement here today. 

Nurul Hizam said the ‘Op Carilamat’ search and rescue operation was activated at 2.45 pm involving assets from Maritim Malaysia, the Marine Police and the Fisheries Department.
