Thousands attend Pahang prayer programme in conjunction with Malaysia Day celebration

KUANTAN, Sept 15 — The Pahang state-level Malaysia Day celebration tonight was filled with a prayer programme attended by approximately 5,000 people at Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Jubilee Perak Hall, here.

The programme which was conducted for more than four hours began with Maghrib and Isyak congregational prayers attended by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and Pahang Mufti Datuk Seri Dr Abdul Rahman Osman as well as the Pahang state leadership.

Besides a salawat recitation and qasidah performance, there was also a light & sound display by Yayasan Al-Jenderami before a tausiah (discourse) was delivered by independent preacher Habib Ali Zaenal Abidin Al Hamid.

Meanwhile, Wan Rosdy in his speech said the inaugural programme would not be able to be realised if the country is not in a state of peace and prosperity.

“We are proposing that this programme be continued in the future and I thank all parties involved in organising it,” he said.

The programme ended with the singing of the Bahtera Merdeka song and the handing over of the state government’s contribution to tahfiz pondok and study centres.
