Indonesia Strongly Condemns Israel For Legalising Settlements In Occupied Palestine

JAKARTA, Feb 15 – Indonesia strongly condemns Israel’s recent decision to legalise nine Jewish settlements in the West Bank as it violates international law and related United Nations resolutions.

The largest Muslim country in the world joined the European Union (EU) in condemning Israel’s plans to build 10,000 new houses in the area.

In a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, the country said Israeli action would fuel tension and instability in the region.

“The international community must unite to urge Israel to stop these actions and continue to urge for a two-state solution,” the statement read.

On Monday, EU’s foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said the block did not accept the decision by Israeli authorities.

According to him, the Jewish settlements are illegal under international law and reiterated that the EU will not recognise any changes made outside of the 1967 borders.
