China Southern orders 100 C919 aircraft

BEIJING, May 1 – China Southern Airlines has placed an order for 100 domestically produced C919 aircraft from Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), the carrier announced on Monday evening.

The catalog price, including the airframe price and engine price for one C919 aircraft, is $99 million, or a total catalog price of approximately $9.9 billion for 100.

According to the schedule, the ordered aircraft will be delivered to the carrier between 2024 and 2031.

China Southern Airlines stated that the purchase meets the company’s medium to long-term fleet development needs, can alleviate the pressure on capacity demand, and achieve a balanced fleet structure layout.

Air China last week announced the purchase of 100 C919 jets in a deal worth $10.8 billion. And China Eastern Airlines, the first global buyer of the C919, inked a deal with COMAC in late September for an additional 100 C919 aircraft.
