KUALA LUMPUR, March 31 (Bernama) — The Chinese Embassy in Malaysia together with three other entities jointly donated 50,000 pieces of surgical masks to the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) to help Malaysia’s fight against the COVID-19 outbreak.

The companies are China Entrepreneurs Association in Malaysia (PUCM), China Pacific Construction Group (CPCG) and its subsidiary company Licentobuild Sdn Bhd.

PUCM in a statement today said NADMA director-general Datuk Mohtar Mohd Abd Rahman, PUCM president Datuk Keith Li, CPCG Malaysia chief executive officer Eugene Choo attended the handing over ceremony at the NADMA office in Putrajaya this afternoon.

PUCM members have been actively ordering medical supplies from China to assist Malaysia after the pandemic worsened in this country, Li told Bernama.

“For many of our members, Malaysia is their second home. We are overcoming some difficulties and challenges in getting supplies and logistics-wise, and so far our first batch of medical supplies of 100,000 surgical masks have arrived and handed over to government bodies and departments.

“We are looking forward to contributing more medical supplies to Malaysia soon,” he added.

China Pacific Construction Group was founded in 1986 with its predecessor called Huai’an YinJiang Construction Co,. Ltd , and  evolved into a large-scale group and was officially renamed China Pacific Construction Group (CPCG) in 1995. CPCG has been listed in the Global 500 Enterprises for 6 years in a row, ranking 97th in 2019 and topping the private engineering and construction enterprises worldwide. CPCG set up its Malaysia Headquarter in 2017.

Eugene Choo told Bernama  that today’s donation ceremony was successfully held with the blessing from Senior Minister Dato’ Sri Fadillah Bin Yusof and with help from  the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia. When the epidemic broke out in China some time ago,  Malaysian society donated a large amount of medical materials to China, CPCG also took part in donating some 1 million ringgit medical supplies to support China. And now when the Chinese epidemic is under control, the Malaysian Covid-19 epidemic has unfortunately worsened. CPCG  has purchased 100,000 surgical  masks from China and donated it to Malaysia’s government bodies and  departments  to help Malaysia fight the epidemic.  I hope the epidemic could be  controlled and everyone could  return to normal life conditions as soon as possible.
