LABUAN, April 7– China Construction Bank (CCB) Labuan has donated 6,000 face masks to the frontliners here to help deal directly with patients in the fight against COVID-19.

Labuan CCB first vice president Alvin Han said the donation Is part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) in light of the COVID-19 spread.

“It is at times like this that we realise there are no borders…in the world health crisis that we are in, we need to work together to fight against the pandemic,” he said after handing over 1, 000 pieces of face masks to Labuan Natural Disaster Management Committee chairman Dr Fary Akmal Osman at Wisma Perbadanan Labuan here today.

He said 1,000 pieces had been  handed over to the frontliners at the Labuan police headquarters on Monday, with the balance of 4,000 to be handed over to the Universiti Malaysia Sabah Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL), Labuan Hospital and Labuan Chinese Chamber of Commerce.

Fary Akmal expressed hope more corporate players would come forward to contribute basic facilities and basic protection gear for the frontliners.

“Frontliners in hospitals such as doctors and nurses need face masks or their health will be at risk… and that same goes to the police personnel, media fraternity and local authorities’ enforcement teams,” she said.
